— TRYOUT INTANGIBLES —
TO SET YOURSELF APART
In preparation for school tryouts, I put together a PDF of Tryout “Hurricanes Intangibles”. This is a list of skill sets, attributes, and tips on how your athlete can “Set Themselves Apart”. If your athlete has been apart of the Hurricanes for a few seasons, at some time or another they’ve have heard us discuss these intangibles at practice. They have also heard us emphasize the importance of setting themselves apart. In this document, I gathered these invaluable skill sets to help your athlete put their best foot forward when it’s their time to tryout for their school teams. However, these attributes should be implemented routinely and not just during tryouts. Please note to your athletes that coaches are not just watching for athletes who can preform certain skill sets. They are also looking for a great teammate, with a positive mind set, who hustles, communicates, is coachable, has great team chemistry, and brings more to the team than just their skill set. These intangibles gathered for your athletes benefit address all these invaluable attributes and characteristics that will set your athlete apart from the rest. Please help us reinforce the importance of these attributes by encouraging your athlete to implement these tips when trying out.
At the least, please have your athletes review this document prior to tryouts, and connect with me if they have any questions regarding any of the intangibles I listed.
We wish your athletes the best of luck with tryouts and are on the sidelines cheering them on, proud of their efforts, regardless of their placement!
