PHILOSOPHY // HURRICANES BASKETBALL

PHILOSOPHY:
The Hurricanes are an organization that is looking to fine tune and improve the skills of young athletes at an early age and to help the athlete grow throughout their high school career. Starting from a young age, we believe in building the young athlete’s confidence by increasing their experience and balancing the playing time between all players. As they get older and mature in skill and character, we believe allowing the athletes to compete for positions and playing time is a preparation for the next level. When left to sink or swim, 99% of the population will swim. We want our athletes to learn to compete and overcome their competition by working hard and dedicating their efforts to something they believe to be worthwhile.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY:
The Hurricanes coaching philosophy is to be consistent in our expectations, to be as prepared as possible, to preform as well as possible, and to learn as much as we can about our players and the game.

We emphasize being a disciplined basketball player. We believe that by giving the best we are capable of performing, we can accept challenges, respect others, and be prepared.

With quality coaching and disciplined athletes our teams will be fundamentally sound. With proper fundamental skills our athletes will develop the necessary skills for on-court execution, good court awareness, and a greater understanding of the game.

“SUCCESS COMES FROM KNOWING THAT YOU DID YOUR BEST TO BECOME THE BEST THAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF BECOMING.”-John Wooden, UCLA Basketball
